Salento: between nature and gastronomic excellence

Salento is not only “sun and sea”, but also the exploration of real natural treasures, as well as food and wine specialties that can be tasted throughout the year. For this reason, we propose a particular itinerary that will lead to the discovery of real natural oases, such as the Parco Regionale della Costa d'Otranto and the Bosco di Tricase, where according to a legend the imposing thousand-year-old Valonia oak, called Quercia dei Cento Cavalieri, gave shelter to the great Frederick II of Swabia. Another spectacular place is la Cutura at Giuggianello, one of the largest botanical gardens in Italy, where you can immerse yourself in a flora of rare tropical and subtropical plants that has no equal in Europe. The itinerary also includes visits and tastings in ancient wineries, such as the winery Castel di Salve, which produce excellent wines appreciated all over the world, and a total immersion in local cuisine and traditions. Program

Day 1

Arrival at Brindisi airport or Lecce train station, transfer and accommodation in a 4 * hotel in the centre of Lecce.
Guided tour of the city dubbed “the Florence of the South” for the richness of its artistic heritage. From piazza Duomo to piazza Sant’Oronzo, from the Church of Santa Croce to Palazzo Celestini you will be amazed by the extraordinary richness of its Baroque palaces with their characteristic flowered balconies and courtyards, by the numerous churches and monuments carved in local stone, famous for its pliancy and brightness.
At the end of the visit, free dinner. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer by private bus or minivan to La Cutura Botanical Garden, an old country estate built in the classic rural style of the late nineteenth century which is nowadays a renowned botanical garden extending for 35 hectares and hosting one of the richest collections of rare succulent and tropical plants.
Lunch at La Cutura Botanical garden.
In the afternoon transfer to the Bauxite Quarry (near Otranto) characterized by a surprising landscape: the scarlet-red earth, the intense green vegetation, the extraordinary turquoise waters of the lake and the blue sky give the impression of being in an enchanted and surreal landscape!
At the end of the visit, return to Lecce. Free dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer by private bus or minivan to Bagnolo del Salento. Guided tour and wine tasting at Menhir Salento winery.
Free lunch.
In the afternoon, transfer to Presicce, known as the "City of hypogea" due to the presence of numerous underground oil mills.
At the end of the visit, return to Lecce. Free dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. (Possibility to book excursions or other activities).
Transfer to Brindisi airport or Lecce train station.
End of agency services.
