From a biological point of view the Gargano National Park, including Gargano promontory and the Tremiti islands, a protected marine area which is a true paradise for divers, represents an island separated from Italy. The Foresta Umbra, its wetlands and its moorlands, its caves, its sinkholes, its particular flora, its prehistoric and archaeological sites make it a unique place to visit outside the usual tourist flows.
